This Privacy Policy describes how fab-forward, Inc. ("fab-forward", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and handles personal information in connection with FabForward Cobot Studio (the "Service"), a hosted browser-based robot simulation and teaching tool.
fab-forward, Inc. is the operator of this Service and the party responsible for the management of your personal information under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (個人情報の保護に関する法律, "APPI") of Japan and its associated guidelines.

We collect the following categories of information when you use the Service:
(a) Server and access logs. Our web server and WebSocket gateway automatically record connection metadata including your IP address, browser user-agent string, request timestamp, HTTP status codes, and bytes transferred. These logs are generated on every connection to the Service.
(b) Session connection metadata. When you open a WebSocket session with the simulator backend, we record connection timing, session duration, and any access token used to authenticate the session.
(c) Content you enter. If you type, paste, or otherwise input content into the Service – for example, robot programs written in the program editor, joint angles or Cartesian poses entered in the teach pendant, or messages typed into the AI-assistant chat interface – that content is transmitted to our servers as part of normal Service operation.
(d) Cookies and browser local storage. The Service stores small amounts of data in your browser's local storage to remember your preferences across sessions. This includes your selected display language, UI layout settings (such as which sidebar tab was last open and panel positions), and session-continuity tokens. No cross-site tracking cookies are set.
We use the information described above for the following purposes:
Operate the Service. To provide the robot simulation, teach pendant, motion validation, and program export features you request.
Security and abuse prevention. To detect unauthorized access, enforce rate limits and connection caps, and protect the integrity of the Service and its users.
Service improvement. To understand aggregate usage patterns, diagnose errors, and improve the reliability and features of the Service. We do not sell your information to third parties.
Compliance. To comply with applicable legal obligations, including responding to lawful requests from public authorities.
FabForward Cobot Studio includes an optional AI assistant chat feature. When you use the AI assistant, the text of your chat messages is transmitted to a third-party large-language-model (LLM) API provider – MiniMax Co., Ltd. – for processing and response generation. This data leaves our servers and is handled by MiniMax under their own privacy policy and terms of service.
MiniMax may process this data on infrastructure located outside Japan (see Section 8 regarding international data transfers). The AI assistant is an optional feature; if you prefer not to share your input with a third-party LLM provider, do not use the AI assistant chat.
We do not share the content of robot programs, joint data, or other simulator state with MiniMax unless you explicitly include such content in a chat message.
Other than MiniMax for the AI assistant, we use standard cloud hosting and infrastructure providers to operate our servers. These providers may process connection-level metadata (IP addresses, log data) as sub-processors in the course of providing their infrastructure services.
Server logs are retained for up to 90 days for security and operational purposes, after which they are deleted or anonymized.
Session metadata is retained for the same 90-day period.
Content you enter into the simulator (robot programs, poses, chat messages) is processed in real time to provide the Service and is not persistently stored by fab-forward beyond the duration of your session, except as it may appear in server logs. Note that content sent to MiniMax via the AI assistant is subject to MiniMax's own retention policy.
Browser local storage data is stored on your own device and remains there until you clear it or until you uninstall the browser.
We implement technical and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These include TLS encryption of all data in transit, token-based access control for WebSocket connections, connection rate limiting, and idle-session timeouts. No method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Under the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI) of Japan, you have the following rights regarding personal information we hold about you:
Disclosure. You may request disclosure of the personal information we retain about you.
Correction. You may request correction of personal information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
Deletion. You may request deletion of personal information where retention is no longer necessary or lawful.
Suspension of use. You may request that we suspend or restrict our use of your personal information in certain circumstances.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at r-mondo@fab-forward.co.jp with sufficient information to identify the personal information in question. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law. Please note that we may need to verify your identity before processing your request, and that certain retention obligations may limit our ability to delete particular data.
When you use the AI assistant, your chat input is transmitted to MiniMax Co., Ltd., whose services and infrastructure may be located outside Japan. By using the AI assistant feature, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than Japan, which may have different data protection laws than those applicable in Japan.
Our primary hosting infrastructure is located in Japan. Standard connection-level data (IP addresses, access logs) is processed on that infrastructure.
The Service is not directed at children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us at the address below and we will delete it promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the Service, or applicable law. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the Service after any changes have been posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Japan. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with this Privacy Policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Japan.
